Report: Brighton 6 Blackpool 1

An impressive display from Brighton & Hove Albion meant The Seasiders left The Amex Stadium empty-handed, thus losing just their second away game under Paul Ince.

Goals from Will Buckley, Matthew Upson, Andrea Orlandi, David Lopez and a double from Ashley Barnes compounded Blackpool to their heaviest defeat of the season.

The home side had the better of the opening exchanges, passing the ball around well with both full-backs looking to join the attack given any opportunity.

After The Seasiders had a free-kick cleared Brighton broke quickly and when the ball found Buckley he cut in from the right and let fly with a fine strike that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 1-0 Blackpool

The goal seemed to settle both sides down and it was The Seasiders who then looked to knock the ball around and enjoy some possession without really threatening the Brighton goal.

Then a fine passing move from Pool allowed Nathan Delfouneso to lay the ball off to Chris Basham, whose pull-back was just cut-out and cleared to safety.

With a quarter of the game gone Brighton doubled their lead through Upson who fired in from close range after Barnes headed the ball back across the face of goal.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 2-0 Blackpool

David Lopez had an effort on goal that Gilks saved well down to his left, before Matt Phillips had a fine solo run in the inside right channel but ended up dragging his shot wide of Tomasz Kuszczak's right-hand post.

Just before the break Poyet's side made it 3-0 with a brilliant team goal ending with Orlandi placing the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his boot on the angle.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 3-0 Blackpool

It was another well taken goal by the hosts and was the end to a dominant half where The Seasiders were largely second best.

HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON 3-0 BLACKPOOL

Ince made a substitution at the interval, bringing on Gary Taylor-Fletcher for Basham, but within two minutes of the re-start it was 4-0 as a shot from David Lopez around 15 yards out took a deflection and flew into the top of  the net.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 4-0 Blackpool

The half-time change meant a change in formation with Ince playing just off Delfouneso in attack and it was Ince who had Pool's first chance of the half, but he pulled his effort from 25 yards wide of the goal.

Despite the goal The Seasiders started the second period in a much more positive manner and got a goal back when Dean Hammond headed in Phillips' cross into the top right-hand corner.

GOAL: Brighton 4-1 BLACKPOOL

Straight after the goal Pool nearly got another but Taylor-Fletcher couldn't connect properly with his first time shot as the ball fizzed across the box.

As the clock ticked over the hour-mark Sylvestre sent a dipping shot towards the far corner but Kuszczak managed to get his finger tips to the ball to turn it around the post.

From the resulting corner the ball found its way out to Sylvestre whose deep cross was punched away by Kuszczak only for the keeper to collide with Taylor-Fletcher, with both suffering head injuries and having to leave the field and be replaced.

Kazenga Lua-Lua came on for the home side and immediately made an impact when his cross was met by Ashley Barnes who sent the ball flying past Gilks into the corner.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 5-1 Blackpool

Brighton added to Pool's misery in the last minute of normal time when Barnes nipped in to poke home a right-wing cross and make it six.

GOAL: BRIGHTON 6-1 Blackpool
