Pool earned their first corner of the afternoon on 26 minutes but the low driven corner from Charlie Adam didn't trouble the Newcastle defence.

The woodwork came to the Seasiders rescue on 52 minutes, a great cross from the right was met by the head of Carroll but fortunately for Pool the ball rebounded off the post and the Tangerines defence were able to clear,
Pool were riding their luck and on 55 minutes Guttierez forced Gilks to save after a jinking run that left four Pool players in his wake.
Danny Guthrie picked up a booking for Newcastle on 58 minutes after he cut short David Vaughan's surging run forward.
Gilks produced another fantastic save on the hour to deny Carroll who once again was picked out by a fantastic cross from Gutierrez.
Newcastle's dominance was rewarded on 62 minutes when KEVIN NOLAN rounded off a fine move, once again Gutierrez caused problems down the Pool right, he found the former Bolton man who rode the challenge of Baptiste before coolly finishing beyond Gilks.
Pool made a double on 65 minutes when Ben Burgess and Gary Taylor-Fletcher made way for Stephen Dobbie and Brett Ormerod.
