It was a tale of two penalties at Bloomfield Road, the difference being Watford scored theirs, and Blackpool didn't.
Majev Vydra's spot-kick settled a tight encounter, because Nile Ranger blew Pool's own opportunity from 12 yards.
The striker's kick struck the inside of the post and condemned Blackpool to a sixth league defeat of the campaign.
In truth there was little between the two sides, but Pool's lack of a cutting edge in the final third cost them dearly.
It was Blackpool who threatened first, when Tony McMahon's left-footed effort was tipped behind by Heurelho Gomes.
However with Troy Deeney in their side Watford were always going to pose a threat, and the striker stung the palms of Joe Lewis on 12 minutes.
Ilmen Abdi was next to try his luck, drilling an effort down the throat of the stopper, before Ishmael Miller forced Gomes into a save, after latching onto a drilled ball from Edu Oriol.
It was certainly an entertaining affair, but the enjoyment would have dropped considerably for the home fans had Joel Ekstrand's header not crashed back off the crossbar.
The visitors were getting closer, as Lewis McGugan's bending free-kick was superbly kept out by Lewis.
For Pool Cywka dragged an effort wide of the mark, but on 42 minutes The Seasiders had Lewis to thank again for keeping them level.
Vydra's fine through ball sent Anya clean through, but a week on from scoring past Manuel Neuer, the winger was foiled by a fine save from the Blackpool stopper.
Moments later Donervon Daniels headed John Lundstram's free-kick at Gomes, and it proved to be the final chance of the half.

Watford started the better side after the break, and Deeney shot straight at Lewis with the first chance of the second half.
Anya then set up Vydra, and a section of Bloomfield Road thought the visitors had edged ahead, but the striker's effort had crashed into the side-netting.
At the other end Tomasz Cywka flashed a free-kick just wide from all of 30 yards out.
On 65 minutes José Riga made his first change, replacing Francois Zoko with Nathan Delfouneso.
However two minutes later the visitors took the lead, taking advantage of a gift from Blackpool.
When McMahon took Lloyd Dyer's legs from underneath him inside the box there was only one outcome, and Vydra made no mistake from the spot, sending Lewis the wrong way with his kick.
Moments later The Seasiders came close to equalising, but after a melee in Watford's box, Deeney was on hand to clear off the line.
Ranger then replaced Edu Oriol with 18 minutes left on the clock, and the striker was involved in the next major talking point when he was bundled down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
The striker took the kick himself, but was desperately unlucky when it hit the inside of the post and went away to safety.
The miss knocked the stuffing out of the hosts, and Lewis denied Dyer to keep the score down.
With three minutes left Sergei Zenjov, who'd just replaced Cywka, headed over from close-range.
As the board went up for added time Miller headed McMahon's free-kick at Gomes.
In the final seconds of the match a Blackpool corner brought everyone including Lewis forward, but McMahon shot wide with the last opportunity.
