Captain for the day in Andy Taylor’s absence, Tom Aldred believes Blackpool put in their best performance of the season to date, as they beat Carlisle United away from home.
The Seasiders became just the second side to take all three points from Brunton Park this season and did it in style, firing four goals on the road.
Brad Potts, Jordan Flores, Sanmi Odelusi and Nathan Delfouneso were all on target, but Aldred was pleased with the overall team performance.
“It was a terrific result and a terrific performance,” he said. “It was probably the best result of the season and I think it’s been coming to be fair.
“It’s a good performance but we’ve got to kick on from here because we know what this squad is capable of.”
The game plan of utilising Carlisle’s wide pitch worked well for Pool and Aldred was pleased to see their clinical streak return.
“The game plan was to get the ball wide and put balls into the box. We knew it was a big pitch so it suited us. Our pace and power was too strong for Carlisle.
“We want to catch Carlisle, credit to what they’ve done this season, but we want to be up there with them,” he said.
