In the first installment of his Portuguese diary, Angel Martinez tells us who his new room-mates are and why he's sad about a big result this weekend...
I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about waking up early and making sure I caught the plane to Portugal. I got up at 3.30am so I had a little siesta before training this afternoon.
I always enjoy travelling for pre-season with the lads, even though it is hard. We've arrived in Portugal to some nice weather and we're now concentrating on training and getting ready for the new season.
In the last few seasons I could speak a lot of Spanish outside of football with Ludo, Gerardo and Tiago, but I now have a level of English so I have no fear. It is good for me to speak more English in the dressing room and on the pitch.
I am staying in a room with the two goalkeepers, Mark and Gillo. They are both very funny and I am staying in the double bed because we have two rooms. I am the king lol.
I spent my summer back in Girona seeing my family and supporting my brother. The team have had their best season in Girona history but they lost in the play-off to Almeria in two matches. I know from my experience with Blackpool what it is like to lose in a final - every day you think about changing your life by going to the Premier League or La Liga. Girona lost 1-0 and 3-0 so I was sad for my brother because he deserves to play in La Liga after being at the club for a lot of years.
After watching Spain tonight I will have a very long siesta and talk about training again tomorrow.
