In the sixth installment of his Portuguese diary, Angel Martinez starts with some sad news and looks back on a dramatic penalty shoot-out involving the Spanish national team...
I start with some very sad news because I am so sorry for my friend and team-mate Alberto Noguera. I knew that his mother was very, very bad because he didn't come to Portugal. The bad news arrived today when Gerardo sent me a message to tell me that Alberto's mother had died. Everyone is so sorry for the family and I give a big kiss to them all. Alberto is OK and he wants to come back and play football as soon as possible to clear his mind. He will always remember his mother but he has to keep going.
The gaffer is now here in Portugal with the players and everybody wants to do their best. This morning the training was very hard and intense and everybody was giving 200 per cent. This afternoon we did some weights, some football and some Yoga. Everybody now knows the Yoga and the right positions.
Today I did a funny dance on the sofas with Cathers, Gillo, Mark and Bash. We were all together in the living room and we were dancing to a funny song that we sing. It was the funniest moment in the day.
What a match between Spain and Italy last night. I watched it with Mark and Gillo but Gillo is like a baby because he went to the bed in the second-half. He is sleeping before 10pm, always. Italia played really well and had some chances. Spain didn't play the best match but they kept going and Navas was amazing in the extra-time. The Premier League will enjoy this player.
Penalties are a lottery but it was a big win for Spain. My hands were sweating because I was very nervous and Mark was just laughing. I am looking forward to the final but I can't watch it as we will be flying on the plane. It will be a great final.
