Matt Gilks hopes Blackpool can continue their great start to the season after the Scotland international kept his third consecutive clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Wigan on Saturday.
A first-half penalty from Thomas Ince was the difference as The Seasiders moved into fifth place in The Championship, and Gilks believes this win highlighted the improvements the team are making.
“We’re defending really well at the minute and we’ve now got three clean sheets on the bounce,” Gilks said. "But we created a lot of chances on Saturday which we probably didn’t do in previous games and could have made it two or three.
“The back four and myself have been playing well all season together, and yes we rode our luck a couple of times today as they hit the bar, but that’s the luck you need at this level."
In front of the Sky Sports cameras Pool grinded out a hard-fought victory over their recently relegated opposition, and Gilks believes this game highlighted a recipe to success for the team.
“It was a great win for us. We knew it was going to be tough, a bit like the Reading and Watford game, but again we’ve come up winners with a 1-0 scoreline.
“We will just keep on coming and try and continue the run, taking every game as it comes. So let’s not get carried away, we’ve had a great start to the season but let’s just keep going and see what happens,” he added.
