Chris Basham says Blackpool's pre-season training has been 'excellent' so far, and he's now counting down the days to the new campaign.
The midfielder has been impressed with the schedule that manager Paul Ince has put in place, with a mix of different sessions aimed at making the players hit peak fitness and performance.
"It's been excellent to be honest," he admitted. "Everyone is getting to know each other - we've had trialists come and go - but we've stuck together as a core and we're doing sessions that we've never done before. We've carried on with the Yoga and we're doing weights sessions. The football has been good and the pitches at Squires Gate are in really good condition."
The Seasiders will step up preparations with another pre-season run-out tomorrow, playing a League Two side behind closed doors. This game comes on the back of Basham having 45 minutes at Penrith last Saturday and he can't wait to start playing football regularly again.
"I really enjoyed it at Penrith. It was just about getting your bearings again, knowing where to go and working on your decision making. I think coming back a week earlier than other teams has puts us one step ahead. It has really pushed us on. We did 11v11 yesterday and we are all looking really sharp and eager.
"I'm always looking on the calendar for the next pre-season game and they're coming up thick and fast now. We're counting down to Doncaster as that's the one that's in the back of the head. They've just come up and they're going to be right at it."
"I'm really looking forward to playing for Blackpool Football Club again this season and giving it all I've got, like I do every game. I played a big stint last season and hopefully I can do the same this time," he added.
