Blackpool FC Ladies produced a brilliant display of attacking football to beat Wigan Athletic 8-1 over the weekend.
The Seasiders responded to falling behind after just 27 seconds in emphatic fashion, in a result that moved the side to sixth in the table.
Five goals in a devastating nine-minute period turned the game on its ahead following Jenna Morgan's deflected opener for Wigan. April Oldfield and Charlotte Banner both scored from Charlotte Gill’s corners, with Lauren Oatley bagging a brace and Alix Reid scoring a super goal.
Dannii Cross made it 6-1 before half-time and then added a seventh after the restart. Alice Jackson came off the bench to complete the rout and inflict more misery on the rock bottom Latics.
It was an excellent team performance from Chris Vickers’ side, featuring some impressive individual displays. Reid, Oatley and Cross all shone, while Gill was the unsung hero with her composed midfield play and accurate corner kick deliveries.
The margin of victory was the Ladies' biggest of the season so far and fourth win in succession.
