After a whirlwind 24 hours at the end of last week for Donervon Daniels, which saw him arrive at Blackpool and don tangerine for the first time, the defender is already feeling at home.
The 20-year-old joined The Seasiders on loan from West Brom on Saturday, and featured in the club’s friendly with Burnley at Bloomfield Road.
Initially the defender joins on a 28-day loan and has already set his sights on making an impact on the seaside.
“I’ve come on a 28 day loan, both parties agreed so it’s basically just a feeler. From my first day and first game I know I want to be here longer,” said Daniels.
“The fans that were here (on Saturday) made me feel very welcome, and on Twitter. I can start calling this place home, so I’m looking forward to everything to come, all the challenges.
“I was happy to finalise it, happy to be at a Championship club and move forward with the plans that the gaffer has got for the players.”
Daniels has experience under his belt from previous loan spells with Tranmere and Gillingham, but is now set for the more taxing challenge of The Championship.
“I’ve got a few games under my belt with Tranmere and Gillingham, but those are past experiences. I’ve come here to gain experience, to push on and take my career to the next step with such a big team like Blackpool.
“Hopefully in the future, we never know what could happen, but I’ll take the experience back to West Brom and see where it takes me.”
And Daniels could be making his Blackpool debut in less than a week, as The Seasiders prepare to kick off their campaign at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to that game, it’s going to be a big game for both teams, the start of the season. I’m going to make sure me, the team, everyone puts in a hard shift going into Saturday, as it’s a good chance for everyone to put their first markers down,” said Daniels.
