The Ladies progressed to the second qualifying round of the women’s FA Cup with a comfortable away win over Warrington.
Blackpool started quickly and raced into an early lead within the opening five minutes. Emma Ambrose saw her effort spilled by the Town keeper into her own net and Lauren Oatley put Pool 2-0 up with a precise direct free kick.
It didn’t take long for The Seasiders to extend that advantage, as April Oldfield struck in the 10th minute. Sian Dillon then beat the Warrington offside trap and applied the finish to make it 4-0.
After Mac Barlow and Clare Kilner both came close to adding their names to the score-sheet, Gaby May provided the fifth goal for the Ladies. Barlow then scored goal number six, before Charlotte Banner headed home to make it 7-0.
Oatley added her second to make it eight, but a rare Warrington attack following a loss of possession by Blackpool led to them scoring a consolation goal to make it 8-1 at the break.
Having been forced a fine stop from the Warrington ‘keeper just before half time, Dillon was again denied early in the second half. However on this occasion the forward was not to be denied, as she squeezed in the rebound to make it 9-1.
Warrington worked hard to keep the score down after that, but could do little to stop Dillon completing her hat-trick, as she raced through before rounding the ‘keeper and slotting home. An individual effort by Oldfield then made it 11-1, before Oatley completed the scoring, and her own hat-trick, with a well placed finish.
The next round of the FA Cup takes place on October 14 and is another away tie, this time against City of Manchester. The Ladies return to league action this weekend with a home fixture at Wyre Villa against Irlam on Sunday. Kick-off is at 2pm.
