Getting to know Pool's new midfielder

Today Blackpool confirmed David Perkins as their first signing of 2014 - here are five facts you may not have known about our new midfielder.

1. Perkins' first goal in professional football came for Morecambe in January 2006 when he scored against Crawley Town in the Conference Premier.

2. Whilst at Morecambe Perkins earned nine caps for England C, the national side for non-league players, between 2003 and 2006.

3. His first and only professional hat-trick came in a thrilling 4-3 victory for Rochdale away at Chesterfield in January 2008.

4. After an impressive 2010/2011 season with Colchester United he won four awards collecting the Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, CUSA Home Player of the Year and the CUSA Away Player of the Year awards.

5. The 31-year-old is no stranger to Bloomfield Road, having netted in the 1-1 draw for his old club Barnsley when the two teams met at Bloomfield Road in April 2012. It was the midfielder's first goal for the South Yorkshire side.
