Striker joins on loan

Blackpool have signed David Goodwillie on loan for the remainder of the season from fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The striker joined in with training this morning and will be available for Saturday’s game against Doncaster Rovers - where he will wear the number 25 shirt.

Goodwillie, 24, has three Scotland caps to his name and spent the first half of the season on loan with Dundee United.

He scored six times in 22 appearances, and is looking forward to getting started at Bloomfield Road.

Goodwillie said: “I’m thankful for the opportunity. It is a great platform to kick-start and get back playing games. I would have travelled miles just to get a game; hopefully I’ll score as many goals as I can.

“A lot of the lads are in the same boat, having only been here a few days, so it will take time to gel, but hopefully it can click on a Saturday.

“I get on well with Gillo, he is a great lad. I spoke to him before I joined and it felt the right place at the right time. Hopefully I’ll be involved at some stage (tomorrow), and I’ll get off the mark.”
