Tom Ince feels that Blackpool's loss to Swansea City was a valuable fitness exercise, although he acknowledged that the result could have been different.
The winger, who pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 4-2 defeat, came off the bench after 40 minutes on a night when Swansea capitalised on some slack passing from The Seasiders.
"The main objective is to get the fitness right and to get the way we want to play from the start of the season," he admitted. "We played a decent Swansea side who are in the Premier League for a reason and you saw that last night.
"Three of their goals were down to our errors and although Swansea keep the ball well and are very good at what they do, if we cut out our mistakes then the game could have been level. Overall they were the better side and they play the type of football that we're looking to play."
Personally, the 20-year-old is keen to push on following his debut season in tangerine as he looks to continue making a name for himself in the game.
"I had a very good back end towards last season when I was playing week in, week out and hopefully if selected from the start of the season I need to give that same consistency and still be the person that everybody is talking about in the Championship. I have to do what I have to do for this team to win games and the team do what they do for me, keep winning the ball back and giving it to the likes of me, Matty and Fletch, or whoever else plays in the attacking positions," he added.
