Tom Ince insists that no shirt is guaranteed under manager Michael Appleton and that every player is fighting hard to play each week.
The winger, who is currently on 13 goals for the season, says that nothing can be taken for granted so you have to stay on top of your game.
"The lads are now aware in training that they’ve got to work for their place in the team. Everybody is putting in 100 per cent and nobody has a shirt that is settled in this team," he admitted. "We have fantastic players that can come off the bench. The gaffer is not afraid to make changes and bring in players who deserve a chance.
"Every day I work hard on my weaknesses in training because I know that there will be someone behind me looking to take my shirt. I have to make sure that I cement my place every week by working hard, creating assists and scoring goals."
Although certain aspects of training have been hampered by the weather this week, the 20-year-old has been delighted with the general sessions that the manager puts on.
"It’s sharp, intense stuff that all works towards a game. There’s a lot of little six-a-side games and little tournaments and every player is looking to catch the eye. That competition is great. Most importantly, every player in this squad is behind whoever does play," he added.
