Manager Paul Ince says the loss of Matt Phillips to injury is a 'massive blow' for The Seasiders.
The winger is set for an extended spell on the sidelines following a collision in training that left him with a broken arm. The 22-year-old had surgery on Saturday and will now miss the start of the new campaign.
"I'm absolutely devastated for the lad," Ince said. "He's actually come back in top form and the way he's been training is like his last five or six games towards the end of the season. I felt that he was back to where he was before.
"To lose someone of his quality is a massive, massive blow for us because you can't go out and get another Matty Phillips. I'm gutted for the lad because he was excited about the start of the season and I'm gutted for myself and everyone else. He's going to be out for two or three months, which is a big blow to us."
