Blackpool manager Paul Ince believes his players are ready for their first pre-season fixture this weekend, after two weeks of training.
Several fitness tests and some warm weather training in Portugal have primed the players for the new campaign so far, yet nothing can replace the match sharpness gained from a game.
"I think it’s important after two weeks of hard work and building the foundations and doing a lot of core stuff," Ince said. "We need games now and the lads need to get back into the football sharpness. We’ve done a couple of 11v11 matches over the last couple of days in training and it’s about the right time to get into a full-scale match."
A strong squad will be action for the run-out against Penrith, which will include a number of trialists and Thomas Ince.
"We’ve got four or five trailists in that we need to have a look at and there will also be the regulars from last season, including Thomas and Matty Phillips," the manager confirmed. "The ones who played last season also need games. We’ll have two different teams and each will play 45 minutes."
Admission to the game at Frenchfield Park costs just £5 for Adults and £3 for Seniors. Kids under the age of 16 can gain entry for free.
