Tom Ince has pulled out of England's Under-21 squad for the forthcoming games against Romania and Austria due to injury.
The 21-year-old winger picked up a knock in Blackpool's game against Peterborough United on Saturday.
"Tom picked up an injury at the weekend and he wasn't going to be ready for the first game, and only an outside chance to be available for Monday," Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce confirmed.
"He's also played nigh-on every game for Blackpool this season, so I spoke to Paul [Ince] yesterday and he said that Tom's desperate to be with us, so he'd support what we wanted to do.
"They have some big games coming up and we don't need to see Tom to know what he can do, so it was decided that he would head back to his club," he added.
