Meet baby Ludo, one of Blackpool’s newest fans following his arrival into the world on Thursday 4 April.
Born six weeks early, he weighed just 3lb 13oz and was named after one of his dad’s favourite Blackpool players, Ludo Sylvestre.
As fate would have it, baby Ludo was delivered two days prior to his French namesake scoring his second league goal of the season in a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.
Dad Gary Hirst, a South Stand season ticket holder, said: “Ludo arrived exactly a year to the day after my wife had miscarried, which held a special significance for us and we thought that it must be fate working in its mysterious way.
“So on that Saturday afternoon when I was checking the latest scores on my mobile, we were both delighted to discover that Ludo scored Pool's goal and, again, our thoughts were drawn towards how fate once again worked.”
The club recently marked the occasion by sending out a baby kit signed by the original Ludo as a keepsake for when the baby is older.
Sylvestre himself added: “It’s the first time that a baby has been named after me and I think it’s pretty cool. Hopefully he likes the little kit and comes to see the team play in the future.”
