Another Pre-Season Victory
Head of Coaching Richie Kyle could not hide his delight with his Blackpool Youth side as they cruised to a 3-1 victory against Bury on Saturday.
Goals from Alieu Njie, Henry Cameron and an own-goal sealed an impressive display for the Tangerines and Kyle was convinced that it was the perfect way to lead into the beginning of their title defence next week.
“The lads were excellent today, it was a very impressive victory,” he said. “It was a good test for us, Bury were very strong last year. They are a very well organised and well drilled team and we played well some really good football."
The victory against Bury rounded off the pre-season fixtures for the young champions, one which Kyle admitted has been tough, but he feels now his side are ready.
“Pre-season has been a test but we’ve been showing this form all pre-season,” he said. “We just needed to be a bit more clinical and to show that we are ready for the new season and after that I am more than convinced that we are.
“To play our last game before the start of the season with that quality and confidence was great and to do with a bit of style was an extra boost.”
“Here at Blackpool we have a certain way of playing and it’s always tough for a new group of players to gel so quickly on top of buying into the philosophy, but I’ve got to say they’ve done so brilliantly and I’m sure if they carry this form into the new season, we’ll have a good campaign again.”
Kyle reserved special praise for centre-back pairing Joe Molden and James Doyle after the win.
“We’ve had a bit of bad luck with injuries, Joe and James have had to stick it out and play every minute of pre-season side-by-side and they’re starting to get a very good understanding, so obviously that’s important to have a strong partnership at the back.”
