Richie Kyle believes the youth team’s first-half performance against Wigan Athletic on Saturday was key to a 2-0 win at Squires Gate.
The young Seasiders needed less than two minutes to open the scoring, with George Lomax dinking over the Latics’ goalkeeper before Dion Charles doubled the lead going into half-time.
A flurry of other chances went begging for Blackpool but Kyle, Head of Coaching, described the opening period as the best he has seen from Pool in recent matches.
“I thought we dominated the first-half and passed the ball extremely,” he said. “It was one of the most pleasing first-half performances for a while.
“We hadn’t been starting games well earlier in the season but on Saturday I thought we blew Wigan away. I’ve stressed to the lads how important it is to start on the front foot.”
Next up for the youth team is a trip to Fleetwood Town in the North West Youth Alliance on Saturday 16 November, which Kyle also expects to be tough.
“Fleetwood will want to beat us like all other teams because we’re top now, and it’s a derby match so everyone will be ready to go.”
