Reaction To Cup Exit
Richie Kyle was disappointed to see Blackpool slip out of the Youth Alliance Cup at Bradford City on Tuesday evening – but he is now determined to ‘wrap up’ the North West league title.
The young Seasiders suffered a 4-2 defeat to The Bantams in the Northern Section Semi-Finals, leaving them with just the league and the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup to fight for.
However Kyle, Head of Coaching, is now focused on claiming the North West crown as his side head into a likely title-decider against second-placed Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
“We move on and focus on Saturday now,” said Kyle. “Our performances have shown why we’re top of our league and we need to go on and wrap it up now.
“It was a difficult game in extremely wild conditions at Bradford – the wind hindered both teams and the conditions didn’t suit us.
“They were a strong team and I thought they out-battled us in the first half.
“We didn’t compete very well with the conditions and their physical presence.
“In the second half, when we had the wind, we had lots of chances to win the game – and get back into it for a start.
“It just wasn’t to be our night – the ball didn’t go in when we wanted it to.”
