Blackpool Ladies got off to the best possible start to their 2012/13 campaign with a fine 10-1 victory away at Bolton.
The home side had the best of the opening opportunities, with a shot on target gathered by Steph Findlay in the Pool goal. On 10 minutes Findlay did well to parry another effort when one-on-one with the Bolton striker, leaving defender Sarah Jones to clear the danger. Bolton then had further efforts wide and over.
Mac Barlow and April Oldfield both had efforts for Pool before the Bolton keeper saved Lauren Oatley’s header from a Chrissi Bradshaw cross. The breakthrough finally came 20 minutes though, with Danni Cross getting between two defenders for a bottom corner finish. Cross then obtained her second with a fine finish from a Barlow through ball.
Bolton, however, were still in the game, and their efforts were rewarded on the half-hour mark with a headed goal to make it 2-1. Moments later Cross raced on to another through ball from Barlow and sealed her hat-trick at the second time of asking. Lauren Oatley made it 4-1 prior to half-time when she fired home from a corner.
The goals kept on coming in the second-half as Charlotte Banner made it 5-1, quickly followed by Oatley grabbing her second and Blackpool's sixth. She then sealed her hat-trick after latching onto a pass from Cross.
Emma Ambrose came off the bench to score from distance with her first touch to extend Pool's lead, while Cross increased the gap further by reacting quickest to a throw-in.Oatley then got her fourth of the game to complete a 10-1 victory for The Seasiders.
The Ladies are now preparing for another away fixture tomorrow when they face Morecambe at Lancaster & Morecambe College, kick-off 6.30pm.
