Blackpool FC Ladies produced a fine performance to beat table-toppers Morecambe 4-1 last night.
The game started evenly, with the deadlock only being broken just after the half-hour mark.
Captain Sarah Jones fired home the opening goal, her first in Pool colours. Moments later the lead was doubled after Charlotte Banner’s clearance picked out striker Sian Dillon to finish in the bottom corner.
Just before the interval Banner was unlucky not to extend the lead further when her placed penalty hit the post.
In the second-half Olivia Turnbull’s perfectly weighted ball found Oatley who rounded the keeper to make it 3-0. Morecambe fought back to pull a goal back, finishing from inside a crowded box as a corner ball was played in.
But the Ladies remained firm and extended their lead on 75 minutes however, full-back Gaby May passing a number of defenders before crossing for Dillon to get her second of the evening.
It was an excellent performance by the Ladies in their penultimate fixture of the season, with their final game being on Sunday (28 April) at Bloomfield Road against Crewe, kick off 2pm.
