Blackpool’s youth team will face their biggest test yet when they host Liverpool’s youngsters at Bloomfield Road this evening.
The pair meet in the FA Youth Cup, with Richie Kyle’s side going into the tie in good form after cup success on the weekend.
Kyle’s men saw off Morecambe on penalties, after a 1-1 draw in the Youth Alliance Cup, so will be in good spirits.
The manager is a Liverpudlian himself, so knows what to expect from tonight’s opposition.
Kyle said: “I want the lads to go out and enjoy it. Nobody will be expecting us to win, and the result will have no effect on the rest of our season.
“We have a chance because we’ve shown we’re hard to beat, and Accrington Stanley knocked out West Ham United’s youth side recently which shows anything is possible.”
He is likely to have first team manager Paul Ince on hand for any words of wisdom.
Ince was full of praise for the youngsters. “They’re winning games which is great. They’re going to nervous tonight because Liverpool a big team, but it's important for me to show an interest," said Ince.
The game kick-offs at 7pm and Blackpool season ticket holders can enter the game for free, just swipe your card as normal.
