Marathon Heading For Bloomfield Road

The Home Of The Seasiders Has Been Named As The Venue To Start And End The Blackpool Marathon

The 13th modern day running of the Blackpool International Marathon & Half Marathon is moving to a new venue - Bloomfield Road.

The event will start outside the ground on 7 April 2013 and end with a grand stand finish in front of the directors box inside the stadium.

The route will take in all the famous attractions and run between Squires Gate Lane and Little Bispham on a flat course ideal for all standards of runners. 

Traditionally runners from throughout the UK & Ireland, along with several from European countries descend on the Fylde Coast for the weekend.

Organisers, Fylde Coast Running are very excited about the new venue and are expecting over 4000 to attend the event with hundreds staying in the resort for weekend.  

Entries are being taken from all forms of businesses, both corporate and individual. Details and entry to the event can be seen on www.fyldecoastrunning.org.

A club spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be able to assist Fylde Coast running with their Marathon and Half marathon and we hope to play our part in making this year’s event the best ever.

"As most people know Bloomfield Road is now a lot more than just a football ground, our fantastic facilities and prime location mean that we can accommodate a whole host of events. 

"I am sure our supporters will play their part by entering the event, sponsoring those that take part or by turning out to witness this great event."
