Striker Steven Davies feels José Riga’s attacking style of football will suit his game perfectly at Blackpool.
The 26-year-old’s debut season at Bloomfield Road was hindered by injuries, however now back to fitness the striker is ready to kick-on.
Having seen Riga’s Charlton side beat Blackpool on the final day of last season, Davies feels the Belgian’s system will get the best out of his game.
“They came and played attacking football, which is obviously the kind of team I like to be in. Playing with two strikers up front will also be a positive for me,” said Davies.
“He obviously has a good pedigree and has worked at some top clubs, so I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing what fresh ideas he’s got.
Riga’s first match in charge of Blackpool will come at The City Ground against Nottingham Forest, which has added an extra spice to the occasion for Davies, once of Derby County.
“I’ve always had quite a strong rivalry with Forest, having been at Derby for so long. It’s more for my family really and my kids, who support Derby - I’ll see it as any other game.
“The first thing you look for is the opening game of the season, but whoever our first game was it was going to be a difficult game. It would have been good to be at home, but we’ve got a tough task going to Forest," he added.
