Kyle Reflects On Latest Performance

Blackpool Youth continued their preparations for the new season with a comfortable 3-1 win against Eagley United over the weekend.

Head of Coaching Richie Kyle felt that despite his side’s win, there was plenty of room for improvement.

“It was a good workout but in all honesty we weren’t as convincing as we were the other day but it was all about the fitness,” he said.

“We played some good football at times but they looked a bit tired after a long weeks training, but their fitness levels came through near the end and there were plenty of positives to come out the game, so overall I’m pleased.

“In parts of the game the understanding between the players was much better and every game we play you see our philosophy coming through.”

Goals from Alieu Njie, Rowan Richardson and Anthony Cato sealed the win and Cato in particular had left a lasting impression on his manager.

“I thought Anthony was terrific. His energy throughout the game was fantastic and he even managed to grab himself a goal.

“He’s been telling me he doesn’t score many so he should be delighted with that one.”

Next up for The Seasiders is a game against Accrington Stanley at home this coming Saturday and Kyle believes his youngsters are well on course for the new season, despite a few injuries to his team.

“We’re hoping the lads will step up again and their fitness levels will improve further, they do seem to be getting fitter and stronger every day.

“My only concern is that we’ve picked up a few injuries, no muscle but little knocks so we’re still playing with the bare minimum at the moment.”

As champions, this season the demand will be even greater on Kyle’s side but he feels everything is in place for another successful season.

“It’ll be tougher this season, we’ll have to face everyone twice, but as far as the atmosphere in the camp at the moment and the winning mentality we’re trying to instil in the boys, we’re right on course with two wins out of two,” he added.
