Queens Park Rangers and Burnley’s Sky Bet Championship title odds continue to shorten after the division’s top two teams each registered another win on Saturday.
Favourites QPR came in from 6/5 to evens as they maintained their unbeaten record in the league with a 2-0 win over Barnsley at Loftus Road, although Burnley remain top on goal difference.
Seven of QPR’s eight league wins have come without conceding and that was a 13/8 chance before kick-off, while Charlie Austin’s price to be the division’s top scorer has come in from 9/1 to 11/2 having scored both goals.
Indeed, Austin’s 87th minute penalty secured one lucky punter a £250,000 windfall, as Sky Bet customer Ed Houghton became only the third Super 6 jackpot winner having correctly predicted six scores in the free-to-play online game.
Burnley have played a game more than Harry Redknapp’s men but they’re now 12/1 to win the title, having been 18/1 prior to their 2-1 win over Reading.
It was The Clarets’ fifth win on the bounce and it’s fair to say that they’re making a mockery of their pre-season odds of 80/1 for the title, while they’re now 4/1 for promotion having been 16/1 in August.
Elsewhere, Steve McClaren got off to a perfect start in his first official game in charge of Derby, guiding his new side to a 3-1 win over Leeds, ensuring their odds for a top-six finish shortened from 7/1 to 6/1.
Meanwhile, one of the games of the day on Saturday took place at Dean Court, where hosts Bournemouth defied odds of 28/1 to come back from a half-time deficit to beat Millwall.
The Cherries were two goals down after 10 minutes, at which stage Sky Bet offered in-play odds of 200/1 for Eddie Howe’s men to run out 5-2 winners, as they did amid a spirited second-half display.
