Keith Southern has ended his 10-year association with the club by joining Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 31-year-old, who joined The Seasiders from Everton back in 2002, links up with former Pool boss Simon Grayson at The Galpharm Stadium.
Although excited about a new chapter in his career, Southern has mixed emotions leaving behind plenty of memories and friends at Bloomfield Road.
“Part of me is very sad with a little hint of disappointment, but on the other hand I’m really excited.
“I’m 31 now and I’ve achieved everything I wanted to achieve at Blackpool. I’ve played in the Premier League, had two great promotions at Wembley and I’m leaving on a fantastic note.
“The majority of the lads in that dressing room I’ve known for a long, long time and they’ll be my friends forever, not just the length of time I’m in football. I’m sad to be leaving them and I’ve had some lovely texts off them about how gutted they are.
“But football moves forward, nothing stands still and I’ve still got a few years left in the game.”
Blackpool fans will be able to say farewell to Keith when he returns to Bloomfield Road for his testimonial against Everton on Sunday 5 August.
The midfielder is set to play the first 15 minutes of the first-half and the last 15 minutes of the second-half against David Moyes’ side.
The Seasiders would like to wish Keith and his family all the very best with his new move and thank him for 10 years of incredible dedication to the tangerine cause.
