Former goalkeeper Iain Hesford made the draw to determine the winner of the competition to design the 2014/15 third kit at the weekend.
Over 1000 supporters entered the draw to be in with a chance of visiting Errea HQ in Parma, Italy to design the new shirt. Ultimately, the winner turned out to be watching the draw ‘live’ as Armfield South Stand season-ticket holder Jonathan Westhead was present at the match, as Hesford pulled his ticket out of the proverbial hat.
“At first I couldn’t believe I’d actually won,” Jonathan said. "Must be the first time ever!”
Jonathan will now accompany a club official to Errea HQ at the end of the month and come up with four designs that could potentially be used by the team as our third kit for next season. He will do this by spending the day with a designer in Parma, and then all four of his choices will be displayed in the Club Shop shortly afterwards. His choice of kits will sit alongside the current home and away shirts that have already been manufactured by Errea.
Supporters will be given the chance to vote for their favourite kit, with the winning design being put into production so that it is available to buy from the end of the current campaign.
“I’m really looking forward to the trip and I already have some ideas on designs,” Jonathan continued. “I have supported Pool all my life and I would list the Billy Ayre years of the early 90s as some of my favourite times. It is certainly an exciting opportunity and I’m very grateful to the club for allowing me to be part of it.”
