Design number six will be the official third kit next season after fans voted in their droves ahead of last Friday’s deadline.
Supporters had a total of seven shirts they could choose from but ultimately it was the only black shirt in the line-up that prevailed and will now be put into production ahead of being available to buy from May.
The conclusion of voting was the final piece in a unique experience that has seen the club’s supporters involved in the design from the outset. Season-ticket holder Jonathan Westhead was the lucky fan who flew to Italy to finalise the designs, which fellow Seasiders then voted on. Curiously it was a last minute addition that has won.
“We had originally chosen all our designs before heading off to the local training complex to be shown around,” Jonathan said. “While at the complex we saw an old Parma shirt, made by Errea, that was framed and hanging in the clubhouse. Although it wasn’t in Blackpool colours it did look very nice, so at the last minute we mocked it up with the necessary tangerine and white trim and asked to add it the potential options.
“It is interesting that a last-minute choice has gone and won the competition, despite all the thought process that went into things before we even touched down in Italy.”
The final voting was as follows:
Design 1 – 4%
Design 2 – 11%
Design 3 – 6%
Design 3b – 9%
Design 4 – 27%
Design 5 – 14%
Design 6 – 29%
The club would like to thank Errea for their help and assistance in allowing our supporters to be so actively involved in choosing the new kit.
