Steve Thompson says that The Seasiders failed to affect the game in key areas, as Blackpool lost 1-0 at Ipswich Town.
A second-half strike from Michael Chopra was enough for the home side to seal all three points, meaning that Pool's poor record at Portman Road continued.
"We just don't know what we're getting sometimes," Thompson said. "I mentioned to the lads today about their decision making on the ball, Tiago hit the post in the first-half but if he pulled it back then Derbs had an open net. It was just huff and puff with not a lot of quality at times.
"We do everything with the ball, we work on our shape and everything is structured around it. We looked like we were fighting the ball out there and we made it look so hard. You've got to go and affect the game, whatever position you're in. Too many out there didn't affect the game today, and the percentage of first goals that we keep conceding is scary and it's giving us mountains to climb."
Top scorer Tom Ince started the game on the bench following a UEFA disciplinary hearing. Steve Thompson confirmed that the trip to Switzerland had taken a lot out of the winger.
"On Thursday he had to leave training to get to the airport and he arrived there in the night. He was up at 7am on Friday morning for a trial/meeting and then he joined us again at the team hotel on Friday night. The lad was absolutely out on his feet," he explained. "He shouldn't really have been in the squad but if we're still in the game, he's a fantastic sub to come on."
