Steve Thompson was thrilled to hear the referee's final whistle after The Seasiders saw off Millwall 2-1 at Bloomfield Road, thanks to Nathan Delfouneso's 90th minute strike.
The Seasiders conceded the first goal for the 21st time this season when James Henry scored direct from a corner, before two brilliant finishes from Thomas Ince and Delfouneso reversed the scoreline.
"It's nice to score late on at Bloomfield Road. It wasn't the best performance we've put it in but it's nice to be lucky than good sometimes.
"It was very scrappy at times. I went in at half-time and just said to them: "you look sorry for yourselves," and we have to get out of that mode.
"I wanted a reaction because in that first half we looked a little bit pedestrian and the movement wasn't there and we've been working on that all week."
It could have been worse for Pool had Rob Hulse's chipped effort not come back off the crossbar in the dying embers of the first period, but once again the players displayed character to come out after half-time and turn the game around.
"I think in the second-half it was a lot of huff and puff, but the tempo and the movement of the players was much better. When Nathan Delfouneso and Derbyshire came on they gave us that little bit extra energy and the extra outlet.
"Incey comes inside onto his left peg, and it's a wand of a left peg, and he gets us going again. We can't keep relying on him but while he is doing it, it's fantastic.
"It was scored at the right time and the fans got behind us, who were fantastic today, and it drove us on to that much needed result here.
Mark Halstead started as Matt Gilks served a one-match suspension and Tommo was delighted to see the 22-year-old get his chance.
"He's done great. He'd be the first to admit he's made the mistake with the corner. On the positive side, for a lad who has made his debut, I think he has made some fantastic saves and he has done himself proud today.
"We've got to be positive and look forward. We can't rely on any results around us as it's about what we do as a squad. It was a big performance today and we needed it."
