Dom Telford scored his second goal in a week to fire Blackpool’s youth team to a 2-1 pre-season win over Accrington’s youths at Lytham YMCA.
The former Manchester United youngster, who bagged against Everton last Tuesday, proved too quick for the Stanley backline all morning in sweltering heat, and raced through to put the ball under the goalkeeper and score the final goal of the match.
Mark Waddington had equalised for Pool just minutes before with a rising header from one of many pinpoint free-kicks by defender Mitch Clayton.
The visitors struck the first blow with an effort diverted in from a cross, prior to The Seasiders hitting back.
However, Accrington did have a chance to level matters from the penalty spot, but goalkeeper Daniel Milton dived to his left and kept out the low strike with a strong left hand.
In the end, Richie Kyle’s side played a short passing game based around building from the back and were quick to close down their opponents when in possession – something the new Head of Coaching has stressed to his team in training.
