Wrexham 1 Blackpool 3

Blackpool’s youth team prepared for a pivotal period in their season this week by picking up a 3-1 win at Wrexham in the Youth Alliance on Saturday.

Goals from Dom Telford, Sam Staunton-Turner and Mark Waddington fired the young Seasiders to all three points against last season’s North West champions at Colliers Park.

Pool now face two important fixtures, starting with a Youth Alliance Cup – Northern Section semi-final at Bradford City on Tuesday evening, before hosting Oldham Athletic in a likely league title-decider on Saturday.

Head of coaching Richie Kyle was pleased with his side’s performance at the Red Dragons, admitting they are looking forward to the big games coming up.

“It was a decent performance on a tough pitch at Wrexham,” said Kyle.

“We dominated the match and missed a lot of chances to score more, but Dom Telford’s goal is a contender for goal of the season.

“We’re now looking forward to the week ahead but we take it one game at a time, so all of our focus is on the Bradford game on Tuesday.”

Blackpool face Bradford on Tuesday (7pm kick-off) at Garforth Town FC, Cedar Ridge, Garforth, Leeds, LS25 2PF.

The game against Oldham on Saturday will take place at Squires Gate Training Ground with an 11am kick-off.
