HOLLOWAY PRAISES BLACKPOOL DISPLAY

Posted on: Sat 28 Aug 2010

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was full of praise for his side after they drew 2-2 with Fulham in a thrilling match at Bloomfield Road.

"It's a fantastic day for the football club, what an achievement to get this game on and some of the football we played today was worthy of it.

"Defensively we were far better today, we got tighter to people and showed some of the quality that we've got, "he said.

The Seasiders dominated for large periods and Holloway was delighted with the possession football on show.

"Our second goal I was absolutely delighted with, I think that was some of the best football any team of mine have ever produced and it ended up with a fantastic goal, "he added.

New signing Luke Varney scored twice in an impressive debut just days after joining on a season-long loan deal from Derby County, a performance that didn't go unnoticed.

"He's got pace, his game suits the way that I want to play and he looked like he'd been with us all his life, hopefully he'll have a wonderful relationship with us and keep doing what he did today, " said Holloway.
