The Seasiders final away trip of the season got off to the worst possible start when JERMAINE EASTER fired Plymouth into the lead after just four minutes, skipper Michael Jackson who had been restored to the side in place of the injured Stephen Crainey failed to clear a cross from the left from Rory Fallon, the ball to Easter who fired home for his sixth of the season. To be honest, things went from bad to worse with Pool slipping to one of their heaviest defeats of the season.
Two minutes later Michael Jackson was fortunate to see just a yellow card when he clipped the lively Easter on the edge of the area.
Halmosi stepped up to take the resulting free kick and curled just over from 20 yards.
Rory Fallon once again opened the Pool defence with a delightful ball over the Pool back four, fortunately Easter fired well over despite being one on one with Rachubka.
Jermaine Easter then fired just wide as Plymouth continued to push Pool onto the back foot.
The trickery of Wes Hoolahan earned Pool their first corner of the game on 17 minutes, the tricky Irishman weaved past two defenders before seeing his cross turned behind for a corner. The Irishman then saw his corner come back out to him on the left wing and his cross was met by Keith Southern, who saw his powerful header saved by McCormick.
Paul Rachubka had to acrobatically turn a left wing cross behind for a corner on 20 minutes, fortunately the hosts didn't test the Pool defence with the resulting corner.
Rachubka came to Pool's aid again two minutes later when he expertly turned behind a Halmosi free kick after Shaun Barker had been penalised for a foul on the edge of the area.
Rachubka was beaten from the resulting corner and Simon Grayson will no doubt be asking why RORY FALLON was unmarked and allowed to head home from six yards.
Stephen McPhee saw a free kick whistle just over from 25 yards on the half hour after Claus Jorgensen had been fouled by Timar.
Wes Hoolahan joined Michael Jackson in the book on 33 minutes following a late trip on Summerfield.
The Seasiders finished the half by forcing two corners, but both set plays failed to test the well organised Plymouth defence.
Half Time Plymouth 2 Blackpool 0
Plymouth began the second period brightly but Pool should have been awarded a penalty on 53 minutes when Ian Evatt was pulled back inside the box by Rory Fallon.
At the other end Plymouth should have made it 3-0 when Jermaine Easter almost rounded off a fine Plymouth move, fortunately for the Seasiders Paul Rachubka and Kaspars Gorkss were on hand and the pair combined to clear for a throw in.
Less than a minute later the third goal did arrive and once again it came from the head of RORY FALLON, the in form striker once again got in front of his man to head beyond Rachubka from 10 yards.
Pool made a double change on the hour when Ben Burgess and Andy Morrell replaced Michael Jackson and Stuart Green, the changes saw Burgess partner Dickov up front with Morrell taking a right wing role with Pool operating a 3-5-2 formation.
Ten minutes later Danny Coid replaced Paul Dickov and Pool reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation.
Despite the changes Plymouth continued to retain possession and create the better chances, fortunately for the goal difference the Pilgrims did not add to the scoreline although Paul Rachubka did produce a fine save to turn behind a sweetly struck free kick from Luke Summerfield.
