Mick McCarthy entered the press room at Molienux on Saturday after the game and said "Dick Turpin has arrived let's get on with it", few of the 24,294 will have disagreed with the Wolves boss, his expensively assembled squad of internationals ended the Seasiders 13 match unbeaten run but few would argue Pool had enough chances to have taken all three points let alone a point from their third game in the Championship.
Simon Grayson resisted the temptation to throw Ian Evatt back into the starting eleven, the big centre back missed last weekend's game with Bristol City through injury but the former QPR man had to be content with a place on the bench after he declared himself fit for the trip to the Midlands. Pool were also without Danny Coid and Michael Flynn who were both suffering with a chest infection.
Wolverhampton backed by a vocal home support got things underway on a red hot August afternoon but it was the Seasiders who forced the games first corner after just 90 seconds, David Fox floated over a great ball which the hosts defence could only half clear, the ball fell to Taylor-Fletcher who saw his first time strike take a deflection behind for another corner. This time Fox failed to clear the first man and Wolves cleared the danger.
Less than a minute later Pool forced another two corners, the second of which saw Shaun Barker head straight at Hennessey.
An under hit back pass from Darren Ward on five minutes almost saw Andy Morrell nip in, but the Seasiders were denied by the alertness of Wayne Hennessy who raced off his line to block at the feet of the Pool front man.
Ben Burgess persistence down the inside right channel earned Pool another corner on 10 minutes, but once again David Fox failed to clear the man on the near post.
The hosts first real attempt on goal came on 14 minutes when Freddy Eastwood flashed a shot just over from 18 yards.
Pool forced yet another corner on 17 minutes after the Wolves defence turned behind a Hoolahan free kick, this time David Fox saw his effort punched clear by Hennessy only as far as Taylor-Fletcher who saw his first time shot cleared off the line with the keeper beaten by.Michael Gray.
Wes Hoolahan squandered a glorious opportunity on 20 minutes, the tricky Irishman weaved his way forward before seeing a right footed fly over the bar with the keeper beaten.
Wes Hoolahan continued to torment the Wolves defence and on 29 minutes the winger was again causing mayhem, unfortunately for Pool a pile drive from Ben Burgess flew straight across the face of goal.
Wes Hoolahan saw another attempt on goal take a deflection behind, this time the Irishman trotted across to the right hand side and his corner caused the Wolves defence all kinds of problems, Ben Burgess was allowed to chest the ball inside the area, Burgess then tried to thread a ball to Morrell, but Olofinjana was on hand to clear.
Seven minutes before the break Pool rode their luck and were fortunate not to have conceded when Freddy Eastwood failed to fire home following a goalmouth scramble.
Half time Wolves 0 Blackpool 0
Both sides enjoyed a couple of half chances in the opening stages of the second period but it was the Seasiders who broke the deadlock and like a certain Spanish side who wear all white Pool's goal was simply awesome, a great ball from David Fox sliced open the Wolves defence, GARY TAYLOR-FLETCHER took a touch before volleying beyond the advancing Hennessy.
The man mountain Seyi Olofinjana became the first name in the referees notebook following late challenge on Taylor-Fletcher.
Five minutes after the goal, Mick McCarthy made a double change with Neil Collins and Karl Henry replacing Michael Gray and Darren Potter.
Pool made their first change of the afternoon on 57 minutes when Claus Jorgensen replaced Gary Taylor-Fletcher.
David Fox should have put Pool two up on the hour once again Pool cut open the Wolves defence with ease after Pool saw two shots blocked the ball fell to David Fox who simply had stroke the ball home, unfortunately the midfielder rushed his finish and blazed wide.
Pool made their second change on 64 minutes when Keigan Parker replaced Andy Morrell.
Two minutes later Wolves replaced Stephen Ward with Jay Bothroyd.
Bothroyd's first job was to defend two Pool corners, but once again the set play failed to trouble the hosts defence.
Pool were made to rue their missed chances and poor set plays a minute later when FREDDY EASTWOOD put the hosts back on level terms, Wayne Hennessy launched a long ball forward which cause the Pool defence problems, Andy Keogh released Eastwood who took a touch before firing home.
Shaun Barker joined Keith Southern in the referees notebook on 75 minutes following a foul on Keogh, Barker protested his innocence and in fairness the Pool defender did look as though he won the ball.
Fourteen minutes from time, Wolves took the lead through FREDDY EASTWOOD, Kightly got the better of Stephen Crianey and raced towards goal, crossed to Keogh who saw his header parried by the keeper only as far as Eastwood who made no mistake from close range.
The second goal lifted Molineux and Pool were on the back foot and were indebted to some last ditch defending to stay in the game.
With eight minutes remaining Pool threw on Scott Vernon in place of Ben Burgess.
Keigan Parker had a great to equalise late on when he was one-on-one with Hennessey but his attempt to chip the Wolves keeper resulted in a simple save for the Welshman.
