The decision to let Marcel Seip face his parent club backfired as the defender helped Blackpool to a 2-0 victory over Plymouth.

The Dutch defender, who is currently on loan from Home Park, headed the Seasiders into the lead before a second-half strike from David Vaughan sealed the three points.

Manager Ian Holloway opted to make a number of changes for the game with the likes of Matt Gilks, Billy Clarke and Hameur Bouazza starting.

Gilks was called into action almost immediately following a short back-pass from debutant Marcel Seip. The 'keeper just managed to rush out and clear before the opposition could pounce.

Hameur Bouazza nearly opened the scoring for the Seasiders inside the two minutes. The winger cut inside on the right and curled an effort that deflected off a Plymouth head and rattled the post.

Jamie Mackie was the first Plymouth player to test Matt Gilks but his effort flew straight into the arms of the 'keeper.

The Argyle defence were struggling to cope with Hameur Bouazza in the early stages as the winger saw plenty of the ball. His trickery and movement continued to have the Pilgrims on the back foot. The Algerian international floated over a great ball for Ben Burgess to head but Roman Larrieu was down quickly to deal with the threat.

The Seasiders were dominating in every department on the field but just couldn't take the lead. Alex Baptiste made a dart in to the box only for the goalkeeper to grasp his effort. Charlie Adam then looked for all the world to have given Blackpool the lead, but somehow his header missed the target from two-yards out.

It was a familiar face to Plymouth fans that was to open the scoring, however, as MARCEL SEIP headed Blackpool in to the lead from a Charlie Adam free-kick (31).

An acrobatic effort from Billy Clarke - Paolo Di Canio-esque - nearly doubled Blackpool's lead almost immediately. Roman Larrieu produced a great save to deny him.

The visitors continued to be penned in their own half and were offering little in the final third. Matt Gilks was rarely tested on his first league start of the season. The Seasiders just needed to double their advantage to see the game off.

Paul Sturrock opted to change things at half-time as he brought on Cillian Sheridan to replace Darcy Blake.

The visitors started the half in better fashion than the first but it was still the Seasiders who were seeing more of the ball. The second-half was becoming a case of finding the elusive goal.

That goal came, though, as DAVID VAUGHAN picked up a pass from Ben Burgess on the left and rifled the ball into the top corner of the net (64).

The second goal appeared to settle the game as a contest but Stephen Crainey's short header back to Matt Gilks did bring cause for concern. The header was to be Crainey's last contribution to the match as he was replaced by Neal Eardley. Only complacency was going to cost the Seasiders now.

Alan Gow came on to a chorus of boos as Argyle looked to find a way back but all he did was get booked for diving.

The Seasiders made their second substitution with nine minutes remaining as Jason Euell came on in place of Billy Clarke. The third and final substitution shortly followed as Ishmel Demontagnac replaced Ben Burgess.

Four minutes of stoppage time and an opportunity for Jason Euell ensued, but in the end the Seasiders saw out a comfortable 2-0 victory.
