Blackpool stormed into the Fifth Round of the FA Cup with an impressive 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
A classy first-half display full of pace and attacking intent saw Matt Phillips put Pool in front on six minutes and Lua-Lua double the advantage with a wonderful, curling strike.
Chances were as frequent as the winter snow that had fallen over Yorkshire in the days leading up to the game and another fine goal from Ludovic Sylvestre, just after half-time, made it 3-0 and made sure of the victory.
The manner of the performance was just the display urged by Holloway prior to the game and he will now be relishing a chance to test his class of 2012 against Premier League opposition in the next round.
The Seasiders had taken no chances in their quest for a place in the Fifth Round, naming a near full strength side for the trip to Hillsborough.
There were just a smattering of supporters who had made the trip out on a bitter Tuesday evening, though that was understandable with temperatures dipping as low as minus four.
However a hardcore band of Blackpool fans were huddled behind one goal and it was they, rather than the Wednesday following who had reason to cheer in the opening period.
Pool dominated from the outset and after Matt Gilks denied Ryan Lowe early on, the Tangerines took the lead on six minutes when Matty Phillips steered a measured effort into the bottom left hand corner to give his side the perfect start.
At first glance Wednesday keeper Stephen Bywater looked a little slow to respond, but a second look showed that assessment to be of disservice to the winger's classy effort.
That strike made it nine goals in his last nine games and he and the rest of an offensive line-up went in search of more goals in a fine spell - and it wasn't long before they had a second.
Lua-Lua had started the game in an attacking midfield role and was enjoying plenty of room to run at blue and white shirts.
With 14 minutes on the clock the Congolese forward collected the ball to the left of the area, shifted the ball on to his right foot and bent a wonderful effort into the top right-hand corner, with Bywater merely a spectator.
It was a strike reminiscent of another superb goal in Yorkshire against Leeds, back in October, and the scoreline threatened to be similar as the half advanced.
Lua-Lua looped another curling shot on to the roof of the net and Kevin Phillips tested Bywater with a 10-yard shot before the host's second clear opening of the half.
A corner-kick found the head of Owls' skipper Rob Jones and his thumping, downward header was saved superbly by the alert Gilks.
That aside the half-time whistle came as nothing but a hindrance to Holloway's side's momentum and they were quick to seize the initiative again at the start of the second-half.
The visitors had brought on midfielder Jose Semedo in midfield at half-time, in a bid to quash the threat of Lua-Lua, but that only allowed space for another member of the Blackpool midfield to produce a piece wizadry.
On 54 minutes Sylvestre took control of the ball to the left of the penalty area and effortlessly caressed a sumptuous shot into the top right hand corner, in frontof the travelling Blackpool fans.
That effectively ended the game as a contest but even with the pace of the clash slowing somewhat, there were still further chances for Pool to extend their lead.
An audacious flicked pass from Lua-Lua found substitute John Fleck inside the area and his dangerous, volleyed cross was well cleared by the Wednesday defence.
Matt Phillips then ought to have got his second and Blackpool's fourth when one-on-one with Bywater, only to fire his shot agonisingly wide of the post.
The final whistle brought boos from the home support, but deafening chants from the away following, who can now look forward to a trip to Goodison Park a week on Saturday and another tantalising taste of Premier League opposition.
