NEW SIGNING Rob Edwards is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead as he looks to become a first team starter once again.

The defender completed a move from Wolves yesterday, and he is now already eagerly anticipating the challenge for places in the Pool defence.

Simon Grayson has recruited heavily in that area over the summer, with Edwards now joining the likes of Marlon Broomes and Alex John-Baptiste in staking a claim for a starting role this season.

After agreeing a move yesterday, Edwards said of the transfer: "I'm really looking forward to it, it's a new challenge and, hopefully, I'll come and play some football and be part of the squad and, hopefully, a successful season."

The competition in the squad for the new season is something that he feels will also help spur him on and strive to improve.

He said: "Wherever you're going to be, there is going to be competition at Championship clubs - and I'm looking forward to that. You wouldn't be at a proper club if you didn't have competition, you need to have that to improve and have the hunger for it.

"We want to consolidate and improve on last season and build on last season so I just really want to be a part of that and play some football, and really enjoy it!"
