Central League Kicks Off On Wednesday Afternoon

Blackpool Reserves entertain Manchester City Reserves at Highbury Stadium, home of Blue Square North newcomers Fleetwood Town, on Wednesday 20th August (kick-off 2:00pm).
The two Fylde Coast clubs have a strong working relationship with Simon Grayson's men playing their reserve football in the port. Speaking after last month Fleetwood Town v Blackpool friendly, the Seasiders boss said:" The redevelopment of Highbury is good to see. Obviously Fleetwood Town are trying to keep progressing as a football club. We have strong roots with the club and are coming back here with the reserves again in the new season. Hopefully Fleetwood will keep progressing following another successful year."
City's young Pontin's Holidays League reserve team won the Pontin's (Central) League Trophy earlier this month after seeing off Nottingham Forest 4-2 at the City Ground. Many of the players involved in the Forest game played in last season's FA Youth Cup Final victory over Chelsea and the rest of the squad are all under 21.
Highbury Stadium has undergone a £1 million redevelopment over the summer months. The redevelopment has consisted of two new stands, Football League standard floodlights and new social club and catering facilities. Fleetwood Town play their first Blue Square North fixture this Saturday when Vauxhall Motors are the visitors (KO 3:00pm).
Fleetwood Town chief executive, Steve Curwood said:"The bar and refreshments stands will be open, so it's an ideal day-out at the seaside during the school holidays. Football fans can take in the the Blackpool and City game whilst other family members who don't want to watch the football can visit Fleetwood's promanade and it's attractions or the Freeport Designer Discount Shopping Village in the town."
Turnstile admission is £4.00 adults and £2.00 concessions. The bar will be open and refreshments available. Kick-off 2:00pm.
