Fan-Tastic!
Lifelong supporter Chris Essex-Crosby has contacted the club to thank us for our assistance in solving a predicament he found himself in at the beginning of August.
As part of his wedding celebrations Chris decided to purchase 3 annual subscriptions to The Gold Bond Weekly Draw and take advantage of the recent replica shirt offer. The reason behind this was because he wanted to present the shirts as part of his speech as a way of thanking Best Man and brother Steve and also Usher Andy Latham. He also couldn't resist producing the shirts in his speech as his wife-to-be Emma and new Father-In-Law are actually Preston North End supporters.
However, the recent upheaval with our main sponsor Floors-2-Go had left the club without any replica shirts and as Chris' big day approached the club were left in a difficult predicament as nobody wanted to let him down.
"We knew all along that Chris wanted the shirts by a certain date," said Lotteries Manager Richard Wild."The problem was that we literally didn't have a single replica shirt in the club and it was getting desperate as his big day approached.
"In one last ditch effort to resolve the problem I popped round to see our Secretary Matt Williams. At the time he was in the Kit Room and after explaining the problem he unexpectedly unearthed 3 match worn shirts from a team skip in the corner of the room. They had been worn by Scott Vernon and Joe Martin I seem to recall but I don't honestly think he knew they were there; it was just by pure chance that he stumbled across them.
"After a quick e-mail to Chris he was delighted that we had found some shirts, which we then got signed by the team, and his father Graham picked them the day after on his way to the wedding."
The shirts were then duly presented as part of his wedding speech but as you can see from the picture Chris sent us it perhaps wasn't met with total approval from his new wife.
"Many thanks for sourcing the shirts," Chris said after his big day. "They went down a storm with my best man and ushers.I really appreciate the efforts the club went to, to add that additional special touch to my wedding day."
