Southern Looking For Pool To Keep It Simple
BLACKPOOL MANAGER Simon Grayson has a number of selection issues to decide upon tonight as the Seasiders look to get back to winning ways with victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Bloomfield Road.
Grayson made three changes to his starting line-up for the trip to Wolves on Saturday and those players who came in to the team performed well in the loss at Wolves, but those on the bench will be pushing for recalls.
The manager must decide whether to keep faith with Alex Baptiste at right-back or bring Shaun Barker back in to the team for the game with the Owls. Ben Burgess will also be pushing the likes of Steve Kabba and Alan Gow for a starting role while Joe Martin could come in to the side at left-back following the end of Mo Camara's loan deal. The Seasiders will also assess the fitness of Danny Coid (hamstring). Stephen Crainey (groin) and Jermaine Wright (Achilles) are definitely out as they continue to recover.
The visitors will arrive at Bloomfield Road searching for their second away win of the season, in complete contrast to their home form where they have won five. The Owls were beaten 1-0 by Coventry at the weekend and will be looking to get their away form on track with three points.
In contrast, the Seasiders will be looking to improve on their current home form at Bloomfield Road and midfielder Keith Southern insists the team need to get back to basics in an effort to improve on recent form.
"We can't really look at what other teams are doing, they've shipped a load of goals away from home and we haven't won too many times at home this season, so something's got to give," he said.
"Last season we struggled away from home and had a better home record but this season, for whatever reason, we've got one of the best away from home records. We've got to concentrate on our own form, get back to basics and try and get a win."
