Coid Discusses His New Contract
DANNY Coid today put pen to paper on a new two year deal with an option for a further year.
Coid, who first signed for the Seasiders on YTS contract back in July 1998 told www.blackpoolfc.co.uk that he is delighted to have signed a new deal with the club:
"I am absolutely thrilled to bits to be staying at the club for at least another two years, the length of the contract is longer than I thought I would get, but negotiations with the chairman and new manager went well and I am made up to be staying here."
Coid admitted that with the change of manager doubt about staying at Bloomfield Road came into his mind:
"When Tony was here, he said that if he was still the manager then he would want me here, then he left and I did have a doubt about whether the new manager would come in, but Ian Holloway has come in and he has spoke to me a couple of times and I felt like I was still wanted and that it is what I wanted to feel."
Danny told us first conversation with the new Pool boss came whilst he was away on holiday:
"The first conversation I had with him was whilst I was away in Thailand with my mrs at three o'clock in the morning, I hadn't been in bed long and was half cut and a bit shocked that he was on the phone, but he seems a good man and he is a good manager and I am looking forward to working with him."
One thing Holloway has pledged is to play Coid in his preferred position and that is music to the ears of the likeable Scouser:
"I get it every year from every manager! But seriously I am glad he sees me as a right back and some of the things he has said have been nice and made me feel wanted and part of what he wants to do, I told him I will be giving it 100% as I always do."
