HAVING agreed to sign a two year deal with an option of a further year subject to a satisfactory medical being carried out, www.blackpoolfc.co.uk caught up with Billy Clarke.
Billy, welcome to Blackpool, how did the move come about?
An agent got in touch and told me of Blackpool's interest and it went from there really, it happened very quickly, I met the manager on Tuesday and I had my medical this morning, and I am delighted to be here and I can't wait for the season to start.
You must be excited about the new season and staying in the Championship.
It was one of the main reasons I have come here, when I was looking for a club, I knew I wanted to stay as high as I possibly could and fortunately for me Blackpool have come in for me and it is brilliant for me to still be playing in the Championship. I didn't think I would get another chance to play in the Championship next season, but I am delighted the Gaffer has given me the chance.
The Championship is a division you know well
I made my debut in the Championship about four years ago and i have played a lot of games, so I know what it is all about and what is needed, I had a good time at Ipswich but a new manager came in and these things happen, however, it is not about the past, I am here now and I can't wait to meet the rest of the lads and get started.
For those that might not know a lot about you, what is your best position?
My best position is up front, I scored 18 goals last season and I hope I will be able to get a few goals for Blackpool.
What impressed you about Ian Holloway and Blackpool?
I spoke to him on Tuesday and the things he had to say about the club and the way he wants to take the club forward really impressed me, I came up on Thursday night with my family so I haven't seen too much of the place, but the people I have met so far have made us all feel really welcome and I think it is a really good club to be part of, hopefully we will get off to a good start both in pre-season and when the season starts.
