16.27 (SH) - A minute's applause will be held at the Sheffield Wednesday game this evening in memory of Corporal Liam Riley, who died when stepping on a roadside bomb trying to bravely save the life of Lance Corporal Graham Shaw in Afghanistan.

He was a life-long Sheffield Wednesday fan and all the Wednesday players will don black armbands as a mark of respect.  

15.56 (SH) - A number of supporter-recorded Blackpool songs are knocking around the office at the moment, The FA must receive dozens on a daily basis for the national team.

14.43 (SH) - Just a few odd tickets now remain for the game against Preston on Saturday. 5,425 Blackpool fans are already making the trip.

12.54 (SH) - Alan Irvine has tipped the Seasiders to be up and around the play-offs for the rest of the season ahead of tonight's game.

"Blackpool are very close to the play-offs and I expect them to be up there for the remainder of the season because of the way they play and the good players they have got at the club," he said.  

12.05 (SH) - Hameur Bouazza, missing from the squad tonight to face Wednesday due to a groin injury, is also likely to miss the game against Preston on Saturday. The manager told the press yesterday that the Seasiders have missed his injection of pace since his absence due to the African Nations Cup.

11.17 (SH) - The team that starts against Sheffield Wednesday this evening will have a completely different look to the last Blackpool side that travelled to Hillsborough last season. Five players who lined up for that Boxing Day fixture - Shaun Barker, Kyel Reid, David Fox, Liam Dickinson and Alan Gow - are no longer with the club. Alex Baptiste and David Vaughan were unused substitutes last time out.

10.44 (SH) - Chris Weale's goalkeeping heroics for Leicester City at the weekend have been rewarded with a place in the Football League Team of the Week. Visiting goalkeepers seem to be inspired when they visit Bloomfield Road at the moment.

10.03 (SH) - The Royal Mail van has just arrived to deliver the latest batch of tickets from Preston North End for the game on Saturday. A queue has already formulated in the shop and ticket office.

9.51 (SH) - The team are now en-route to Sheffield ahead of the game at Hillsborough this evening. Brett Ormerod, Charlie Adam, Hameur Bouazza, Billy Clarke, Danny Coid, Ishmel Demontagnac, Barry Bannan and Neal Eardley all miss the trip.
