The official website has a sneak preview of the manager's notes that can be found on pages 4 and 5 in Saturday's copy of Up The Pool. You can read some of the highlights below.
After three defeats in a row everybody was writing us off on Tuesday night when we faced Middlesbrough but the lads were terrific and showed some real character to help us to our first double of the season, and we are going to have to continue to do that from now until the end of the campaign if we are to stand a chance of making the play-offs.
I am confident we can do it because we have some real quality in our squad, we had a little wobble but that happens to everyone, what is important now is today's game against Reading. It is another one we are excited about, they come here on the back of a great run, they have won their last four league games and are enjoying a cup run that has seen them knock two Premier League teams out, so it is up to us today to spoil their party. Brian McDermott has done a great job since taking over and despite their league position they have some quality in their squad and anyone who thinks today will be easy needs to wake up. We will have to show the same the energy and desire as we have in the last two games if we are to take a positive result from the game.
Once again our reserve fixture midweek was postponed due to the weather, apparently Buckley Town was frozen, waterlogged and foggy which was a strange combination, but in all seriousness to have not had a reserve game since November has hindered us somewhat. We were going to use Wednesday's game to give some of those who were on the bench on Tuesday night the chance to get some football under their belts. I am sure those who don't play today will want to have a run out on Wednesday night when we are scheduled to play Morecambe.
On the injury front, Billy Clarke is back training and he will be looking to step up his training next week, Stephen McPhee is edging closer to a run out in the reserves and Daniel Nardiello, Danny Coid and Neal Eardley are making steady progress.
