The Seasiders camp are busy putting a side together, but the question is will legends like Tony Ellis (pictured)  join the squad?

We can't give too much away at the moment, but the official website can confirm that some classic names from the past have already been approached to play.

Speaking about securing a place in the tournament club secretary Matt Williams said: "We have been trying to enter a team for the last few years and we are delighted that we have secured a place in the Mersey Masters.

"It is probably the hardest group in the entire tournament to be in, Tranmere Rovers won it last year and Liverpool and Everton are always strong and you can bet Preston, like us, will be looking to mark their debut with a good performance."

Masters Football's Adam Craig said: "We are delighted to welcome Blackpool to the Mersey Masters, they are a club we have had on the radar for the last few years.

"I am sure their supporters will attend in their numbers and will make the event one of the most memorable this summer."

Tickets for the Mersey Masters are on sale now via the Echo Arena website adult tickets are priced at £20, £15 or £10, whilst Juniors and Seniors are priced at £10 or £7. Supporters should note that booking charges will apply.
